Artist Kaori Ukaji’s solo installation show, “Serenely Proliferating,” concludes Saturday at the East Hawaii Cultural Center Gallery in Hilo.

Ukaji will share her ideas and invites an open discussion and a Q&A for her audience at 1 p.m. Saturday at the gallery, 141 Kalakaua St.

Ukaji originally created these works for the Artists of Hawaii 2017 Exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art. She was awarded the Jim Winters Award for 3-D Design, the Roselle Davenport Award for Artistic Excellence and the Rueban Tam Award.

Her work, expressed in large threaded designs on canvas, a delicate paper sculpture, and her own skin, speaks visually of the trials and triumphs of womanhood and her personal journey of a false cancer diagnosis.
